Sana Caves at Junagadh from Amreli
The hill at Junagadh has 62 rock shelters scattered at various levels. It is believed by experts that these caves belong to 2nd century BC. They are considered as the earliest caves of Western India. Some of these splendid caves have a dome and a pillared hall. The most splendid group of caves has rock cut pillows, benches and stupas. Moreover, the chaityas and the ornate carvings depict the ancient heritage of India.
Gir National Park from Amreli
It is one of the oldest wild life sanctuaries of India. Also called as Sasan Gir, this wildlife sanctuary is a natural abode for Asiatic Lions. It also has the largest number of leopards in India. Apart from these, there is a large variety of reptiles like Marsh crocodiles and Indian star tortoise. More than 300 bird species are found here. Some of these rare birds are Shaheen Falcon, Great Horned Owl, Bonelli's Eagle, Blackwinged Kite and the Tawny eagle.
Devaliya Safari Park from AmreliThis safari park is located approximate 13kms away from the village of Sasan Gir. It was established as an interpretation zone of the Gir Wild life Sanctuary. The Devaliya Safari Park facilitates better view of wild animals in their natural habitat. Other than the Asiatic Lions, the wildlife consists of Blue Bull, Leopards, Chital, Black buck, Jackal, Sambhar and Wild Hoar. Some rare birds like vultures and peafowls are also seen here. The picturesque beauty of the Savannah vegetation along with the flora offers an enthralling experience to visitors.
Bhavnagar Amreli Forest from AmreliIt is a forested area that lies on the eastern side of the Gir National Park. The forest is especially reserved for conserving Asiatic Lions. Some lions of the Gir wildlife sanctuary have been shifted to this region. However, the Jesal sanctuary is also included in the Bhavnagar Amreli Forest.
